If you’re looking for a new indie-pop girl to add to your playlists, look no further. Lena Fine is an upcoming artist who has just released a new single, Dance Partner. Fine has also recently signed to the all female-driven Philadelphia record label, Dime + Dog Records.
Fine is a 20-year-old singer/songwriter who sings as if she has lived a thousand lives. The lyrics ache, her voice is filled with emotion, and the feelings ring of timelessness.
Written in the summer of 2020, Fine was cooped up in her bedroom (like most of us), but she took it as an opportunity to create. Dance Partner will resonate with everyone who felt the lack of excitement from the 2020 quarantine and for those who may still be waiting around for the world to change. The song touches on needing someone or something to bring excitement to life again, which anyone who experienced the last year can relate to.
About the track, Fine says, “Part of [Dance Partner] is about the passing of time, and how even if it’s moving at an excruciatingly slow pace, it still feels like I could be missing something. Most of the song is about yearning for someone or something to break up the monotony of the days. I think it’s safe to say that, during quarantine, we all reached a point where we were so incredibly bored that we were grasping at strings to keep us together.
Originally from Montclair, New Jersey, Lena Fine is currently studying Screenwriting at Philadelphia’s Drexel University. Pursuing her original music since the age of fourteen, Lena aims to create authentic music for whoever it may resonate with. Fine worked with producer Jake Weinberg of CRITTER in high school and began working with other Philadelphia producers.
Dance Partner is Lena Fine’s first release on Philadelphia record label Dime + Dog Records. Stream Lena’s music on Spotify and Apple Music. Follow Dime + Dog Records on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to watch out for new releases and more.
