Drew Barrymore has stepped foot into the world of lifestyle clothing with the launch of her Amazon Fashion clothing line, Dear Drew. Lifestyle clothing is a new adventure for Barrymore and Amazon Fashion as well.
Dear Drew, went live on Amazon Fashion Monday and is “a love letter to women around the world,” Amazon said in a statement. “It is intended to empower customers to be their best selves and live their most inspired, spirited lives.”
The line is designed to compliment everyone’s original story. Dear Drew includes apparel, handbags, jewelry, luggage, hair tools, lingerie, and loungewear, all priced between $28 and $248, WWD reports.
Barrymore has seen sporting pieces from her line in this Amazon Fashion Instagram post while carrying the ubiquitous Amazon packaging box. Some of the pieces include Mulberry Street tie-front skirt, SoHo fan drop earrings, You Are Strong clutch, and the Arthur Ave high-waist ruffle trouser.
Even though the ad takes place in a busy city, the line is meant to appeal to women worldwide. The clothing complements Barrymore well, a clear indicator of her own vision in the line. The brand’s mission is to “provide inspiration and a grounding voice for all women,” according to a statement from Amazon.
Amazon is the internet’s dominant shopping website, so it may come as a surprise that this is the first celebrity line with the shopping powerhouse. In addition, Amazon Fashion delivers private label basics brands Lark & Ro, Ella Moon, Amazon Essentials, and more. Dear Drew is thus an exciting venture for Amazon.
According to Business Insider, Amazon is set to have their clothing and accessory sales grow nearly 30 percent by next year, to $28 billion, according to the Cowen analysts.
“Drew’s impressive career and creative energy is an inspiration, and we’re thrilled to be able to offer our customers a collection that embodies her free-spirited style,” Amazon fashion director Kate Dimmock told The Hollywood Reporter.
The niche of celebrity lifestyle clothing has become mainstream as of late. Brands from Reese Witherspoon with Draper James and Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop to Tracee Ellis Ross’ recent collection with JCPenney.
Barrymore has already proven herself to be a flourishing entrepreneur. In 2013, she founded her own makeup company called Flower Beauty. The makeup brand features products that are cruelty-free and affordable. The brand sells exclusively at 400 Walmart stores in the United States and 300 in Mexico. In addition, flower Beauty’s online store was introduced earlier this year.
Other than exploring the world of fashion, Barrymore has been continuously killing the acting game. Barrymore has recently starred in the Netflix Original comedy series, Santa Clarita Diet, alongside Timothy Olyphant. In Santa Clarita Diet, Olyphant and Barrymore are husbands and wife realtors living in Santa Clarita, California. Barrymore’s character goes through a dramatic cosmetic change in her life, and her family is faced to deal with it. The show recently got renewed by Netflix for a second season.
